In LotsInvoice, each company or brand you invoice from is its own business, with its own logo, numbering, customers, payment details and team, and you switch between them from the menu in the top left. One sign-in holds them all. Starter covers 1 business for $12 a month, Pro covers 5 for $29 and Business covers 20 for $79.

Plenty of agency owners and freelancers invoice under more than one name: a design studio and a separate product brand, two sister companies, a consultancy next to the agency. Each one needs invoices that carry its own name and numbering, and you don't want three logins to manage it. Here's how to set LotsInvoice up for that, what each business keeps separate, and what it costs. Prices are from the live pricing page, checked on 23 October 2026.

## Do you need a second business?

You need one business for every name you send invoices under. Not for every client and not for every teammate.

An agency with ten people and forty clients usually has **one** business: the clients and the team all live inside it. You add a second business when you invoice under a second name, such as:

- a sister company with its own legal name and registration IDs,
- a separate brand your clients know by a different name,
- a consultancy or studio you run next to your main agency,
- a business that bills in a different main currency or with different tax setups.

Multiple businesses are for companies and brands you run yourself. If you're a bookkeeper who invoices on behalf of client companies, those clients usually work inside their own accounting software, and LotsInvoice doesn't sync with accounting tools.

## What each business keeps separate

Every business in LotsInvoice runs on its own. Nothing leaks from one brand's invoices into another's:

| Kept per business | What that means |
|---|---|
| **Name, legal name and registration IDs** | Each brand shows its own details on the invoice |
| **Logo, design, colours and font** | One brand can use the Studio design, another Formal |
| **Numbering** | Separate sequences, so brand A can use `A-0001` and brand B `B-0001` |
| **Customers and items** | Each business has its own client list and price list |
| **Taxes, columns and declarations** | Set up per business, so a sister company can bill with a different layout |
| **Default currency** | Each business picks its own |
| **Payment options** | Each brand shows its own pay link, bank account, Zelle or check address |
| **Business email** | Invoices go out from the business name, and replies go to that business's email |
| **Team and roles** | Invite different people to each business as editors or viewers |
| **Reminders, recurring invoices and reports** | Who owes what, revenue and tax collected, per business |

## How to set up several businesses

### 1. Create your first business

When you sign in at [lotsinvoice.com/app](https://lotsinvoice.com/app) for the first time, you create your first business: the name as it should appear on invoices, the legal name if it differs, the business email and a default currency.

### 2. Add the next business from the switcher

Open the business menu in the top left of the dashboard. It lists **Your businesses** with your role in each one. Choose **New business**, then fill in the same fields for the second brand: name, legal name, business email and default currency.

If the business email is different from your sign-in email, LotsInvoice sends a confirmation link to it. Invoices can be sent from a business once its email is confirmed, so each brand's replies land in the right inbox.

### 3. Set up the new business once

Everything after this is set up per business, and you only do it once:

- **Look:** logo, one of nine designs, colours and font, US Letter or A4.
- **Numbering:** a prefix that tells the brands apart, such as `NS-` for one and `PL-` for the other. If you're moving from another tool, set the next number to follow on from your last one.
- **Layout and taxes:** columns, item and accounting codes, custom fields, taxes and declarations. Tax presets for common setups are a starting point to check with your accountant.
- **How clients pay:** the pay link, bank details, Zelle or check address that belongs to this brand.
- **Customers and items:** add them, or import them from a CSV. If two brands share some clients, import the same file into each one.

### 4. Invite the right people to each business

Team members are unlimited in every business, on every plan. Invite each person to the businesses they work on, as an **editor** (creates and changes documents) or a **viewer** (sees everything, changes nothing). Your bookkeeper can be a viewer on all three brands, while each brand's account manager is an editor only on theirs. Owner rights are never handed out by invite.

### 5. Switch businesses in one click

Pick a business in the top-left menu and the whole dashboard changes to it: invoices, customers, payments, reports, templates, team and settings. The checkmark shows which one you're in. Someone invited to more than one business sees each of them in the same menu, with their role.

### 6. Archive a business you stop using

If you close a brand or stop invoicing under it, archive it. Billing for it stops, nothing is deleted, and invoice links you already sent keep working. You can restore it later when your plan has room or you have credits.

## What several businesses cost

LotsInvoice is priced by the business you invoice from. Inside each one, invoices, estimates, credit notes, customers, items, templates, reminders and team members are unlimited.

| Plan | Businesses included | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 1 | $12 | $120 |
| Pro | 5 | $29 | $290 |
| Business | 20 | $79 | $790 |

More businesses than your plan covers are paid from credits at your plan's rate, and the bigger the plan, the less each extra one costs. With two brands, Starter plus one more is usually enough. From three brands, Pro's five slots cost less. Without a plan, each business runs on 15,000 LotsTech Credits a month ($15). Pro and Business also include LotsNotes Pro while the plan is active.

New accounts get 15,000 free credits, valid 90 days, no card, which is enough to set up your first business and send real invoices before you pay. The full breakdown at 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 and 20 businesses is in [LotsInvoice Pricing Explained](https://lotsinvoice.com/blog/lotsinvoice-pricing-explained), and the plans are on the [pricing page](https://lotsinvoice.com/pricing).

## How other invoicing tools handle several businesses

On their own pages, checked on 23 October 2026:

- **FreshBooks** lets you add businesses under one login and switch between them. Its help centre says the information in each business is kept separate, including its FreshBooks subscription, and team members aren't shared between businesses. Each new business starts with a 30-day trial.
- **Zoho Invoice** is free, and its pricing FAQ allows up to two organizations under one Zoho Invoice account.

If you run three brands or more and want them on one plan, that's the case LotsInvoice's Pro and Business plans are built for. The side-by-side comparison is in [LotsInvoice vs FreshBooks](https://lotsinvoice.com/blog/lotsinvoice-vs-freshbooks).

## Working across businesses from an AI assistant

The dashboard does all of the above. If you also work in Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant, connect LotsInvoice at [lotsinvoice.com/mcp](https://lotsinvoice.com/mcp). It starts by listing the businesses you can invoice from and works in one business at a time, so you always know which brand an invoice comes from. You can say:

> List my LotsInvoice businesses. In Pinelight Studio, draft an invoice to the customer Sample Client for the October brand workshop, $3,200. Then tell me what Northside Consulting is still owed, oldest first. Don't send anything.

It drafts from that business's own customers, items and layout, and asks before anything is sent. (Northside Consulting and Pinelight Studio are made-up names for this example.)

## Common questions

### How many businesses can I have in one LotsInvoice account?

As many as you need. Starter includes 1, Pro includes 5 and Business includes 20. Businesses beyond your plan are paid from credits at your plan's rate, and without a plan each business uses 15,000 credits ($15) a month.

### Do I pay per user if I add a team to each business?

No. Team members are unlimited in every business on every plan, as editors or viewers. You pay only for the number of businesses you invoice from.

### Can each business have its own invoice numbering and logo?

Yes. Each business has its own logo, design, numbering, customers, items, taxes, payment options and team, and invoices are sent from that business's name.

### Can two businesses share customers?

Customers belong to one business, so each brand's client list stays its own. If two brands bill the same client, add the client to both, or import the same CSV into each business.

### What happens if I stop using one of my businesses?

Archive it. Billing for that business stops, nothing is deleted, and invoice and portal links you already sent keep working. You can restore it later when your plan has room or you have credits.
